Thursday, December 25th, Christmas Day – Solemnity of the Nativity of our Lord -– Holy Mass at 9am.

Sunday, December 28th, Solemnity of Humble Shepherds – Holy Mass at 9am and the Blessing and Distribution of Wine in honor of the Feast of St. John, Apostle and Evangelist.

Sunday, January 4th, Solemnity of the Holy Family – Holy Mass at 9am.

St. Francis Parish is sponsoring a Christmas dinner featuring a special visit from St. Nicholas on Sunday, December 7th at 3pm. All are welcome. Tickets are $15 for adults and $6 for children. St. Nicholas will be bringing gifts for your children. Please call Carol at 516-546-2535 by December 1st to make a reservation. A portion of the proceeds from this dinner will be used to assist a family that has been adopted by the parish. Please come and join us and thank you for your support and generosity.

We invite craft vendors and artisans to our first ever Holiday Market to be held Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the parish, 1752 Harton Avenue, East Meadown, Long Island, New York.

• Saturday, October 4th – Blessing of the Animals at 1pm in honor of the Commemoration of St. Francis of Assisi
• Sunday, October 5th – Holy Mass, Blessing of the Renovated Church by our Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Anthony Mikovsky, and Reception in honor of the 76th Anniversary of St. Francis Parish. Holy Mass and Blessing at 4pm, Dinner after Mass.
• Saturday, November 1st – Holiday Vendor fair – 10am- 4pm. Attention all craft vendors - tables are $35 for a 6 foot table and $45 for an 8 foot table. If interested in renting a space please call 516-794-5189.
• Sunday, December 14th – Christmas Dinner – 3pm. Smorgasbord buffet dinner, raffles & prizes, and a visit from Santa.

Please join us on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 1pm for a special prayer and blessing of the Animals. All who have animals are invited to this special blessing.

St. Francis blesses the creatures

Blessed are you, Lord God, maker of all living creatures. On the fifth and sixth days of creation, you called forth fish in the sea, birds in the air and animals on the land. You inspired St. Francis to call all of them his brothers and sisters. We ask you to bless the animals and all living creatures. By the power of your love, enable them to live according to your plan. May we always praise you for all your beauty in creation. Blessed are you, Lord our God, in all your creatures! Amen.

“For where two or three come together in my name, there I am with them”. (Matthew 18-20).

Jesus Christ came to this world, sent by His Father. He was born of the Virgin Mary and became one of us. He came to people to announce to them the Good News of redemption. He called on the Apostles to preach the Gospel after He would leave this world. He established the Church, of which the Apostles are the foundation.

When He was returning to God, He said to the Apostles that He will not leave them alone but would send the Holy Spirit. He said to them:

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always to the end of the ages”. (Mat. 28:18-20).

For two thousand years, the successors of the Apostles proclaim Jesus’ Gospel. Today, Jesus’ Gospel is proclaimed in the whole world by many: Bishops, priests, deacons and lay people.

For the past 20 years, I have been a priest, proclaiming God’s word and working in Christ’s Church. In May of this year, our Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Anthony Mikovsky, send me to become the pastor of Saint Francis Church in East Meadow.

Every parish community is made of parishioners and their pastor who helps them on their road to God. In the parishioners` name, he presents to God their prayers, petitions, and thanksgiving, in their times of trial, happiness and sadness. Through his intervention, through the sacrifice of the Holy Mass and the sacraments, people receive God’s grace, blessings, and forgiveness of sins. The priest is the spiritual mediator between God and His people.

From the bottom of my heart, I am eager to fulfill as best as I can my priestly duties, so that in this way I can serve the Polish National Catholic Church, the parish and its people. I desire to further develop the religious and spiritual life of the parish so the parish will grow and become a community of worshipers deeply believing in and serving God.
